Thinking of Starman…

 

Absolutely beautiful…wow, this skyline reminds me of a movie that I happen to love called, “Starman”. When I watched it in high school I was overwhelmed with this empowering energy.  I will never forget it.  I think it was released in the late eighties.  If you watch the movie you’ll enjoy the soundtrack; its melody encapsulates the enormity of space and seems to express the joy experienced when you witness a relevant discovery.  Just beautiful.

Here this couple gazes at the windows of history.   A Sunday afternoon of picture hunting in downtown Memphis grants me this scene.  Here in Memphis we are provided with endless relics that can be found on many street corners. The Little TeaShop with its modest storefront downtown, is juxtaposed with law offices and high-scale living just steps away from the Mid-America Mall.  Though the mall’s pathways are now almost patron less, it use to be the heart of Memphis action.  Teams of people walking up and down the street to get a look at what’s new.  It’s still a great walk, on some late afternoons during summer, I escape to the lonely outdoor mall to see what use to be there, the lingering signs of life wait in the shadows for new development.  It holds a sense of sadness and beauty, a reminder of how life passes, leaving us to wonder what will change tomorrow.
